David and his wife Alicia, along with their three sons Marvin, Ubaldo and Dario, saved for twenty-seven years to realize David’s dream of opening his own restaurant. That dream finally came true in 2006, when the Herrera family opened the doors of Alicia’s Mexican Grille. Named after David’s beloved wife Alicia, it quickly developed a fan following. Within a few years, they gained tremendous popularity and support which required they move into a larger Cypress location. Over the next few years, they also opened three additional Alicia’s locations in Katy, Spring, and Houston.
The restaurant specializes in custom cakes and pastries but also serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. A drink menu includes beer, wine, bellinis, mimosas and bloody marys.
“We’d like to offer our beloved Alicia’s margaritas here one day,” Dario said.
The cafe offers different menus for breakfast, lunch andSandwich dinner. Breakfast is served all day, and includes burritos, omelettes, skillets and customizable breakfast sandwiches, as well as eggs benedict made with choice of roasted pork, steak or smoked salmon.
A representative of Galiana’s Bakery and Cafe, 24110 Northwest Freeway, suite 500, told the Houston Press that the restaurant’s opening has been pushed back to mid-February. Back in August, the Press reported that the café would be ready by winter of 2016 as per a press release. The Mexican-inspired menu will feature artisan breads, international pastries and desserts, and an exceptionally fresh, made-to-order breakfast and lunch menu.
Herrera has revealed that his bakery will feature a large selection of international items, particularly from Italy and France, as well as sandwiches, salads, soups and breakfast items. Baked goods will include pastries, cupcakes and finger cookies. The venue will also have a coffee bar with international coffees.
Galiana’s Bakery and Cafe, 24110 Northwest Freeway, Suite 500, has plans to open this winter in Cypress. A press release reveals plans for a Italian-inspired menu featuring “artisan breads, international pastries and desserts, and an exceptionally fresh, made-to-order breakfast and lunch menu.”
